The town of Sozopol is one of the most popular seaside resorts and one of the oldest towns on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is located on a picturesque peninsula in the southern part of the Burgas Bay, about 35 km from Bourgas. One of the biggest events in Sozopol are the Apollonia Arts Festival (September 1-10) and the welcome of Julia (June 30 - July 1).
There are two beaches in Sozopol - central and Harmanite, and not far away are the beaches of the campsites ”Zlatna ribka” and ”Kavatsite”. The city is divided into old and new parts. The old town is preferred for romantic walks because of its cobbled streets and old houses, which they carry back in time from medieval Sozopolis to ancient Apollonia. In the new part of the city are concentrated many hotels and restaurants and entertainment. Different types of sea sports can be practiced on the beaches - jet skiing, surfing, beach volleyball, boating, fishing.
Not far to the south is the Ropotamo Reserve. There are boat trips on the river and observation of interesting species of birds and plants.
The architectural reserve and the old town of Sozopol, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its romantic atmosphere, attract many tourists from all over the world.
