Zheravna is a little Bulgarian village, situated in the central part of the Eastern Balkan Mountains and near the town Kotel. It stands out with its Bulgarian Renaissance architecture. It has 330 houses, 200 of them wooden and 550 inhabitants. Here can be found some of the most amazing houses from the Bulgarian renaissance, built since the first years of the Bulgarian National Revival period. They are remarkable due to their artistic decoration and architectural conception, making Zheravna an architectural reserve. Some of the wooden houses there are more than 300 years old. This attracts more than 130 000 tourists every year, with more than half of them being foreigners.
