Burgas

The Municipality of Burgas is located on the Black Sea coast - along the Bay of Burgas. The famous Burgas lakes are near the city - Atanasovsko, Pomorie, Mandrensko and Lake Vaya. Burgas Lakes are a protected area, unique with biological diversity. Via Pontica passes through Burgas - one of the main routes for migration of birds to warm countries.

Burgas is a center of sea tourism - with many amenities and connections to the resorts of the Southern Black Sea coast. Burgas Mineral Baths - only 15 km. from the center of the city are among the most ancient Bulgarian balneological centers.

 

The city of Burgas itself is located on the Black Sea coast. Its average height is 17 m above sea level. The climate of Burgas is moderately continental with a clear sea influence. Summer is pleasant and cool thanks to the constant breeze, winter is mild and warm.

 

Daily summer temperatures are on average 26.4 C, and those of sea water - 24.7 C. The number of sunny days in summer varies between 24 and 27 per month, with an average of 10-11 hours of sunshine per day.

 

The winter is mild, in most cases without snowfall. During the winter season the average air temperature is 4.6 C and the water temperature - 7.4 C. Due to the sea influence, the autumns here are long and much warmer than the rest of the interior, while the spring is more cold and occurs a month later.

 

The Municipality of Burgas is the largest Municipality in southeastern Bulgaria, with a territory of 512,324 decares.

 

Bourgas Airport has the best weather conditions on the Balkan Peninsula. It is also the only one adapted to receive supersonic aircraft. The Burgas Duty Free Zone has been built in Burgas.

 

The city of Burgas is a tourist center with many attractions. It is also a transport hub, from which the distribution of the flow of tourists to the sea resorts Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, Elenite, Obzor, Ravda, Nessebar, Pomorie starts. To the south, tourists prefer Sozopol, Primorsko, Ahtopol, Lozenets, Tsarevo.

 

The towns-museums of Nessebar and Sozopol, the Ropotamo Reserve and the Strandzha Nature Park are located on the territory of the Burgas region.
