Traditionally, the selection committee of the competition chooses twelve finalists, who perform live on the stage of the Summer Theater. Exceptionally, this year there will be 15 songs. The decision was made in the name of the valuable works created by Bulgarian musicians and as a tribute to last year's edition, which was missed due to the pandemic.
After the voting of a selection committee consisting of Tony Dimitrova, Atanas Stoyanov, Argirovi brothers, Dani Milev, Veselin Prenerov, Dimitar Madzharov, Ruslan Karagyozov, Svetoslav Mihailov and Tsanislav Petkov, the following songs were selected (arranged in alphabetical order):

In the next stage, the promotion of the songs on Youtube and Facebook channels of the contest, the presentation of the author's teams and their participation in BG Radio begins. Very soon it will be the turn of you, the music lovers and admirers of "Burgas and the Sea". Throughout the month of July, you will have the opportunity to listen to the finalist songs and vote for the one you like the most. All this will happen online in a specially created platform on the contest site Your votes will be included in the final scoring along with the judges' scores and will be weighted in determining the first through third place winners.
About the contest:
The national fun song contest "Burgas and the Sea" was organized for the first time in 1973 under the name "Songs for Burgas, the Sea and its Working People" by the Burgas Orchestra in the summer theater of the city. After 13 issues it briefly ceased to exist. It was restored in 1996 under the name "Burgas and the Sea" by the "Hot Sand" group and has been held every year since then.
The competition has inherited the traditions of "Songs for Burgas, the sea and its working people", launched many Bulgarian composers, lyricists and performers, created emblematic Bulgarian fun songs.
Today, the competition creates and distributes Bulgarian songs, develops creative potential in the field of musical art, supports composers, poets, performers and develops Bulgarian musical culture. The event takes place every year in the first week of August under the patronage of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality.
Over 300 songs have made their way from the stage of the Summer Theater in Burgas. Authors such as Konstantin Tashev, Atanas Kosev, Mitko Shterev, Nayden Andreev, Toncho Rusev, Angel Zaberski, Boris Karadimchev, Zornitsa Popova, Hristo Fotev, Nedyalko Yordanov, Stefan Diomov and many others contributed to the approval of the competition.
Over the years, the presidents of the jury of "Burgas and the Sea" have been Boris Karadimchev, Toncho Rusev, Vili Kazasyan, Ivan Kutikov and others.
